OUR CURRENT PROJECT
The Skaneateles Lake Milfoil Project has been the main focus of AQUATIC INVASIVES INC. for over 10 years. The project was Founded in 2007 by a group of local residents worried about the new invasive weed they saw suffocating the beautiful waters of Skaneateles Lake. AQUATIC INVASIVES INC. was Founded in 2009 and hired by the Skaneateles Lake Association to create an effective solution to this growing problem that was Eurasian water milfoil. Eurasian water milfoil is a highly invasive, rapidly growing lake weed that was smothering the ecosystem, choking out native species.
Over the last 13 years on this project our crews have logged countless hours controlling the milfoil infestation in Skaneateles Lake. Our efforts continue into 2023 with a focus on managing and deterring the small regrowth patches with the use of Benthic (breathable) Matting.
